Nice

Nice is an ancient port city on the French Riviera, situated just a short distance from Monaco and the Italian border. France's fifth largest city, with a population of around 340,000 (or roughly one million when including the greater metropolitan area), Nice enjoys a mild Mediterranean climate and a sheltered position that made it a magnet for wealthy visitors as far back as the nineteenth century — particularly affluent British travelers and European aristocracy. The iconic Promenade des Anglais and the grand Hotel Negresco are lasting reminders of that gilded era.
